The Mary Wollstonecraft

Named after the pioneering local figure, The Mary Wollstonecraft stands on Stoke Newington Church Street at the former site of Ryan’s Bar. It has been reimagined as a neighbourhood pub by the team also responsible for The Robin Ale & Cider House. The location’s long history as a social hub stretches back at least 75 years, with a café previously occupying the site as far back as the 1950s.

Established in July 2026, the free house looks to ground itself in its community, referencing the area’s storied past and Wollstonecraft’s legacy. Its kitchen is scheduled to launch in autumn, adding another facet to the newly revived pub. Its arrival marks a fresh chapter for a familiar space at the heart of Stoke Newington.
