Who we are

Localtime (localtime.ai) is a city guide operated by KKAT LIMITED. KKAT LIMITED is responsible for the personal information described here. Our address is Unit 1603, 16th Floor, The L. Plaza, 367–375 Queen’s Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. Contact emrah@kkat.org for privacy questions, account deletion or other requests.

Information we use

• Google sign-in: your Google account identifier, name, email address, email-verification status and profile image, together with authentication tokens and session records needed to sign you in. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendars.
• Your account: your chosen display name, language, saved places, newsletter email and selected cities. Signing in does not itself subscribe you to the newsletter.
• Newsletters: the email and city preferences you submit, subscription status, subscription and unsubscribe records, and delivery records.
• Website operation: request and security information such as IP address, browser information and error logs processed by our hosting and authentication services.
• Optional analytics: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics receives information about the pages you view, browser/device and approximate location. We do not send your account email or saved-place list to Google Analytics.
• Correspondence and listings: information you send us, and publicly available venue, source, photograph-credit and business-contact information used to produce our guides.

Why we use it

We use account and saved-place information to provide the features you request; this is necessary to provide our service. We use your consent to send requested newsletters and to enable optional analytics. You can unsubscribe or change your cookie choice at any time. We use operational records and correspondence for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, fixing problems, answering requests and maintaining accurate guides. We may also retain information where necessary to meet legal obligations.

Cookies and browser storage

Essential cookies keep your session secure. Local browser storage remembers your city, language, saved-place cache and cookie choice. These functions are separate from optional Google Analytics cookies. Analytics is off until you choose “Accept analytics”; “Essential only” keeps it off. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to change your choice. Clearing browser storage may reset preferences and require a new sign-in.

Services that process information

We use Railway for hosting, PostgreSQL storage and operational logs; Google for sign-in and, with your consent, analytics; and Mailjet for newsletter delivery. Google Fonts and externally hosted images may receive your IP address and browser request when your browser loads them. Links to maps, venues, Instagram and other websites are governed by those services’ own policies.

Our editorial tools use public venue/source information with search, scraping and AI services, including SerpAPI, ScrapingBee, HikerAPI and xAI. Account details, saved-place lists and newsletter subscriber lists are not supplied to these editorial tools. We do not sell your personal information or use Google sign-in data for advertising. We may disclose information where law requires it, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate protections.

International processing and retention

Our Railway database is hosted in the United States, and service providers may process information in other countries. Where applicable, international transfers must use safeguards required by data-protection law; contact us for details about a particular transfer.

We keep account and saved-place information while your account remains active, unless you request deletion. Newsletter information is retained while you subscribe; a limited suppression record may be kept after unsubscribe to avoid sending unwanted mail. Operational logs, correspondence and backups are retained only as needed for security, recovery, requests and applicable legal obligations. Backup copies may persist until their normal rotation; deletion requests are not used as a reason to restore deleted information to active use.

Your choices and rights

You can edit profile preferences, remove saved places and use the unsubscribe link in each newsletter. Email emrah@kkat.org to request access, correction, a copy, deletion or restriction of your information, to object to processing, or to withdraw consent. We may need to verify your identity. Rights and exceptions depend on applicable law. You may complain to your local data-protection authority. Revoking Localtime in your Google account stops future Google access but does not automatically delete your Localtime account; contact us to request deletion.

Children and changes

Localtime is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their account information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We may update this notice as the service changes, publishing the new effective date here and giving additional notice of material changes when required.
